The little Whale tried to stand up in the water but he landed again with a big splash!
He tried to jump out of the water but this time he landed on top of his head!
He was having a really good time and he didn't notice that his mother was not swimming with him.
He didn't notice that he was swimming on his own.
He didn't notice that he was swimming further and further in towards the shore.
Suddenly he turned to tell his mother about his jump and it was then that he noticed she wasn't there.
"Mum!" he cried, "where are you?"
The little whale didn't notice that he was swimming nearer to the sandbank.
It was Anna who heard the cry of the little whale.
She was in a caravan near the shore.
"What was that noise?" she asked her dad.
"I heard no noise,"said her dad.
Anna went over to the window of the caravan.
Suddenly she spotted the little whale.
"Look, Dad!" she yelled.
"It's a little whale and...I think He's stuck!"
Dad looked out the window, too.
He saw the little whale.
"Let's go and see if we can help him."
Anna and her dad ran down towards the shore.
They got to the shore and looked at the little whale.
"He's only a baby whale," said Dad.
"He's stuck!" cried Anna. "He's stuck on the sandbank!
We have to try to help him."
"Wait here and I'll go for help," said Dad. "Don't move!"
"I won't move," said Anna, "but hurry,Dad, hurry!"
Anna's dad ran up the road again.
He run towards Mike's house.
Mike was a farmer and he had a house near their caravan.
The baby whale splashed about in the water and tried to move his head.
He kept trying to swim, over and over again.
He tried to push himself away and he tried to jump.
It was no good, he could not get off the sandbank.
He started to cry for his mother.
Anna wished that she could do something to help.
All she could do was stand and wait for her dad.
She tried to talk to the little whale.
"Hold on! Don't be scared, baby whale!" cried Anna.
Anna looked up the road.
"I wish Dad and Mike would hurry up," she thought.
Suddenly she heard a yell and saw her dad and Mike.
Dad was running down the hill and Mike was on his bike.
"Let's get to Mike's boat, Anna" said Dad," I have a plan."
Anna, Dad and Mike ran over the sand to mike' boat.
They pushed the boat off the sand and jumped into it.
Anna helped to pull on the oars.
"We have to hurry," she yelled,"the baby whale is getting very tired."
Dad, Mike and Anna all pulled on the oars.
They rowed the boat towards the little whale.
They rowed over the sandbank as fast as they could and pulled the boat up onto it.
Anna went over to the baby whale.
It felt really strange to be so near to a whale.
Dad and Mike were behind her.
"Let's try and help him get back into the water," said Mike.
Dad, Mike and Anna started to push the whale.
The little whale didn't move but he knew that they were trying to help him.
"Push!" cried Dad.
"Push!" cried Anna.
"Push!" cried Mike.
Suddenly the little whale splashed his tail and started to move.
He turned and looked towards Anna and then started to swim.
"He's going to swim away," said Anna.
Then Dad spotted somthing further out in the sea.
It looked like a big hill in the water , only it was moving.
"Look over there!" said Dad,"it's is another whale."
"It's a bigger whale,"said Anna."It's his mother!"
The little whale let out a loud cry and his mother heard him.
She started to swim towards him.
He started to swim towards her.
They nearly bumped into one another!
Anna watched as she saw the baby whale jump into the air and land with a small splash.
His mother did the same but she landed with a very big splash!
Then the little whale and his mother swam further out to sea.
